TEF Bike Program

Kazane Racing is proud to announce our partnership with the Nianjema Secondary School in Bagamoyo, Tanzania, through the school’s US-based nonprofit Tanzania Education Fund. The school was started 9 years ago by former Peace Corps volunteer and Virginia Tech alumnus Charlie Sloan with the goal of providing education in an area with few opportunities. Today the school boasts an enrollment of 400 student.

Kazane Racing is helping the school in several ways. One project involves equipping their new road cycling program. For the first part of 2010, team members will collect road bikes, parts, frames, clothes, and helmets from regional cyclists. In the summer we’ll take the parts and make 15-20 complete bikes. The bikes, accessories, and spare parts will be shipped to Tanzania for the students to use. This is the first program of this kind in the region. For this project we need anything you can donate. Team members will be able to collect parts at any regional race. Please email with any questions.

The team is also hosting an art show at the Keirin Culture shop in Roanoke, VA, with all proceeds going to the school. The format will be silent-auction and all of the art will have a common theme of bikes and cycling. The closing party will be March 13. We’ll have 50+ pieces in different mediums, plus music, food, and drink. Check back for details.

Pre-NACCC Atlanta GoldSprints ~ Round 1

The first of a series events to benefit the upcoming North American Cycle Courier Championship to be hosted here in Atlanta in October, 2010 went down this past Saturday night at The Highlander.

Billy Santana maintained his title belt as Gold Sprint Champion. Many stepped up to the Kreitler equipped rig to test their cadence caliber for the first time, like my bud Naoya. He captured this brutal video of my blasting my AHTBM cap right off.

Kareem of Death Pedal was also in attendance. Look out for the world premier of his latest film at NAHBS.

Thank you Matt, Chicken, Dean, Bobo & Michael for putting on such a bar setting first pre-NACCC event!

I personally arrive a bit late this time and undoubtedly missed a substantial set of sprints but my (and your) next chance to SPIN will be in March at Graveyard Tavern. Skip of No Brakes skipped out prior to our match, you owe me one buddy.

Before the next GoldSprint tournament will be the 2nd Annual Black History Alleycat and in April, an April Fool’s Race! All to raise funds for NACCC ATL. Flyers forthcoming and will be posted on twotoneatl.com/
